You say you are Christian,
but do you forgive?
You say our nation is “Christian,”
but does it forgive?
Where is the compassion
the Christ taught
is the foundation
of the saved?
On one end
we cheer the criminal
and rejoice in rebellion,
but do we forgive?
On the other end
we make laws to condemn
the most human of activities,
wag fingers and blurt curses,
and we do not forgive.
Once faulted,
forever stigma-ed,
discarded, shunned…
another life ruined.
Christian:
Why can’t you forgive?
You are God’s child.
Be like your Father in heaven
and forgive …
as you are forgiven.
